Wildlife Garden Pond

Here’s the completion of the Wildlife garden project we took on after Ellie of Ellie’s Wellies carried out a consultation with the customer to increase wildlife into this garden. The wildlife pond as a centre piece with a range of habitats - wood, rocks, gravel, sand, pebbles and subsoils adds beauty, interest and a focal point for people and wildlife. We upcycled a wire cage and rubble into an insect and bee habitat and changed the profile of the wider garden with piles of soil, gravel, sand, rocks and logs, planted and buried deadwood. We then added wildlife friendly shrubs and native wildflowers and seeds into the mounds. By changing the topography and creating a mosaic of materials dead and living we are optimising the habitats for wildlife.

Wildlife Garden Transformation

This is a great example of what we can do to crate a wildlife haven in your outdoor space. The customer wanted a  welcoming spaces for people and wildlife. This garden is an example of a complete transformation. We worked with the family to design the garden, project managed the landscaping and sourced, supplied and planted the garden with native trees, shrubs and plants and built a wildife pond.

Community Pond workshop and build

This was a great community project. The allotment association invited me for a consultation prior to them applying for funding to create a large wildlife pond in the heart of their allotment's orchard.

I supported the funding application, designed the pond and worked with Mike of Pev's paving (Facebook) to create the pond shape and depth. I then ran a community workshop that saw over 15 people help build out the pond. We planted it up with native wildlife plants before filling from their own water well!

It's always a joy to works with community groups- Helen, the allotment project lead said 'it was a wonderful day, everyone really enjoyed it, despite the mud! and we are thrilled with the result and look forward to seeing how wildlife and our allotment community benefit from the pond and surrounds.

Pollinator rich flower border

Wildlife friendly gardens don't have to be unruly and wild! This is a south facing, long border I designed, sourced and planted up to maximise pollinator opportunity. I set to work on bringing colour, height and the wow factor to this border and was really please with the result!
