Collaborations

GrowNotts

I had the absolute pleasure of being involved in the Wilder Sneinton Project ran by GrowNotts. The day saw over 100 people from Sneinton volunteer to plant up over 500 wildflower and pollinators, create habitat and add bird and bat boxes. It was a joyous day of community and hope and a pleasure to be involved in.

Jack Harris, Managing Director of GorwNotts said- Andy has always been an absolute dream to work with. His knowledge, passion and care for nature always shines through.

Nottingham College

I am proud to have been involved in supporting Nottingham College in their wilding campuses project. I worked with the team to prepare and plant up borders at the City Campus College. Liz and her team have been creating low and no nutrient borders with poor and upcycled substrate.

Liz said- "I couldn't have asked for a better collaborator than Andy for our Nottingham College's 'wilding campuses' project. The man's got the perfect blend of expertise, enthusiasm, care for people and planet... he was fab with our learners, had so much energy for hard graft, and inspired us with a load of ideas for making our campuses better for biodiversity. He knows just how to craft places that work for people and nature, and we can't wait to work with him again."

Work with Wildlife Garden project

In 2024 I was delighted to be asked be part of the Wildlife Garden Project's 'Wildlife Friendly Vegetable Growing project', who joined me at our family's allotment where we created a few videos as on how to get the most from your allotment or growing space in an organic, wildlife friendly way.

The Wildlife Garden Project are there to equip you with the information and inspiration to create your own little wildlife haven right on your doorstep.

As chair of Nottingham Organic Gardeners (NOGs)we organised our spring lecture with Kate Bradbury as host. She spoke about gardening for wildlife and creating habitat for nature. I had the honour of introducing Kate to an audience of 150 people who left inspired and motivated to more for wildlife- a really inspiring afternoon

Listen up

Grab a brew and have a listen to this great podcast series recorded at Nottingham College. Matt Bunn is the lead for sustainability at the College and speaks with guests that are influential in the city’s drive to become carbon neutral.

I chatted to him about my work and how I got into Garden making, and why sustainable gardening is so important to me.

Pulp Friction Chelsea Flower Show People's Choice 2024

I had the absolute honour and delight of joining Pulp Friction and Dutch Landscapes in their Chelsea Flower Show build.

Alongside designers Will and Tin-Tin from Dutch Landscape Architects, my friend and Colleague Beth Danks headed up the horticulture team at Pulp Friction and I was invited along to help with the build and planting. The sustainable, upcycled, edible garden was awarded a silver-gilt medal for their Growing Skills Garden at the start of the Show and were later announced as the winners of the RHS People’s Choice Award by the public.

Will, Director & Founder for Dutch Landscape Architects, said “It’s incredible to have been awarded the Silver Gilt, it’s quite unbelievable, it was such an honour to just have the garden at Chelsea and the award just tops off this incredible experience.”

Uniquely, Pulp Frictions members were heavily involved throughout the entire garden planning and building process – growing a third of the plants, hand making tiles, collecting materials and filling gabions, planting on-site and more
